Does adding cream in coffee kill the antioxidants?

April 7th, 2009 | Posted by admin | Category: antioxidants2 Comments

I read coffee can have positive health affects on people who drink it. But I came across an article below that says adding milk to your coffee kills the antioxidants (which have the health benefits). Now does anyone know if adding non-dairy creamer would have the same affect on the antioxidants?

That is a new one on me. I would love to see the research on it.

However, milk or cream does really change the flavor of coffee. I maintain that good coffee (high quality beans, fresh roasted, properly brewed) doesn't need milk or sugar. Additives mask both the tastes that are unique to varietal beans, origins, and the roasting method.

So, be safe and skip the milk! Better flavor and maybe better health!

enjoy!

Which is better for you: Vitamin Water or Snapple Antioxidant Water?

April 7th, 2009 | Posted by admin | Category: antioxidant5 Comments

Not necessarily which one tastes better, but which one is better for you overall?

Are there any other flavored waters like that that are healthier and taste better?

Thanks for all answers in advance.

I'd go with the Vitamin Water…..the Snapple Antioxidant lists sugar as the second most ingredient behind water, which is basically a watered down soda. The vitamin water is sugary as well so IMO they are both terrible and basically just gimmick…

Here are the ingredients of each…..

Vitamin water:
Vapor distilled, deionized water and/or reverse osmosis water, crystalline fructose, citric acid, vegetable juice (color), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), natural flavor, berry and fruit extracts (acai, blueberry, pomegranate and apple), magnesium lactate (electrolyte), calcium lactate (electrolyte), monopotassium phosphate (electrolyte), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine hydrochloride (B6), cyanocobalamin (B12)

Snapple Antioxidant Water:
Purified water, sugar, potassium citrate (electrolyte), citric acid, natural flavors, fruit and vegetable juices (for color), modified corn starch, calcium lactate (electrolyte), calcium gluconate (electrolyte), magnesium lactate (electrolyte), vitamin E acetate, calcium disodium edta (to maintain freshness), grape seed extract, zinc gluconate (electrolyte), vitamin A palmitate, EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), manganese gluconate (electrolyte).

I have started to get fine lines around my eyes and the cheekbone area. How can I get rid of them?

April 7th, 2009 | Posted by admin | Category: fine lines3 Comments

I know that facial expressionscan cause fine lines, lack of water, no spf, but I want to know how to safely remove them without the neeed to see a professional because it is very costly. Im barely going to be 20 and I'm going through this already??

I have a bunch of homemade masks for you and ill list some of my faves

Exercise and eating healthy are the biggest factors in age prevention

Castor oil, almond oil, olive oil are great for the eye area very gentle and great for prevention/fine lines

Avocado-Almond Rinse
A rich masque for your eyes.

Ingredients:
5 drops almond oil
3 slices ripe avocado
Instructions:
Blend almond oil into avocado, smear around eyes. Rest 5 minutes. Rinse with cool water.

BANANA MASH. Mash up a very ripe banana. Add just enough honey to make a soft pulp. Apply over face and hair. This is such a great firming mask that aging movie stars have been known to put it in the cups of their bras to make their breasts "perky."

Carrot Top Facial Mask
(normal - oily skin)
2-3 large carrots
4 1/2 tablespoons honey
Cook carrots, then mash. Mix with honey. Apply gently to the skin, wait 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.

Apple Zinger Facial Mask
(oily skin that is acne prone)
1 medium size apple (grated)
5 tablespoons of honey
Mix the grated apple and mix with honey to make a mask. Smooth over skin then let sit for 10 minutes, rinse off with cool water.
