Is it harmful to use the anti-wrinkle face cream around the eyes?

I have recently heard that we should avoid using face creams around the eyes and use an eye serum/cream for this specific area. Is this true or is it just a strategy to sell more eye and face anti-wrinkle products?

Don’t use face cream on the eyes…. face creams are a lot heavier… if you use them on your eyes you will end up with puffy eyes as they will retain fluid. use eye cream! just think if you use that instead of the face cream… the face cream will last longer! is the "problem" bags, dark circles, puffiness or just wrinkles? different creams / gel are beneficial for specific things… and take into account your age!
